The Haitians’ worst nightmare has not stopped growing. While efforts are being made to eradicate the madness and bring an end to the suffering of our people in the motherland, a contingent of international forces is teaming up, trying to restore a peaceful climate in the Island nation. Many will think that finally, a beam of light was about to emerge, spreading millions of rays of tranquility and joy to Haitians worldwide.
We could not be more wrong, as a new wave of false accusations came spreading out like wildfire aiming to destroy, tarnish, and annihilate the Haitian pride. These accusations are more lethal, they are destined to destroy what is left of the Haitians, our pride.
An old saying comes to mind: ” Se sou bannan mi dan pouwi gin foss. ” Means rotten teeth are only strong when biting into ripe plantains. People worldwide are voicing their outrage in support of the first Black nation, accordingly by saying that the Haitian people do not deserve such a treatment.
While many are interrogating why such embarrassing accusations came to light at an election debate, others think of a tactic to diverge American attention away from true political facts. Simply put, a real distraction, one that can be detrimental since this is going to be a razor-thin presidential election. Having said that, as minute might be the Haitian voice in that matter; it can speak volumes.
