Haiti’s Prime Minister Ariel Henry has made a desperate and controversial move. The de facto Prime Minister, Ariel Henry, paid an official visit to Kenya and subsequently signed an agreement authorizing Kenya to intervene militarily in Haiti with the support of several other African and Caribbean countries.
Since the assassination of Haiti’s legitimate president, the country has been plunged into a critical situation, descending into darkness. Many are questioning this, determined to find a solution to sow peace in the country. However, to date, efforts remain powerless in the face of the carnage reigning in Haiti. The Haitian nation finds itself in a labyrinth, a chaotic situation where terror and violence prevail. It is undeniable that Haiti has become an unfortunate place, the epicenter of violence, a lawless country that is sinking day by day. This alarming and troubling situation can only be disturbing for the world order.
If we are to believe in this age-old adage, “nature abhors a vacuum,” the void created around Haiti can become an unwanted and detrimental invitation for the entire Caribbean. The Haitian people have never stopped looking for a durable solution trying to bring an end to this circle of violence. Nevertheless, some believe that the problem is Haitian and that it is up to the Haitians to take matters into their own hands. At a time when gangs have control over the territory, where they reign as masters and lords, and almost all police stations are besieged by them, Haiti is on the verge of a volcanic eruption.
Can we hope for a viable solution to restore order and stability in Haiti? Will the decline of Haiti, violence, and insecurity end?
